Today’s Verse

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
— Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

Devotion

By Dr. D. Roy

The kingdom of God calls us to adopt a lifestyle that reflects the way Jesus, our King, lived on earth. He imparted His way of life to His disciples, and they, in turn, passed it down to all who follow Him and accept Him as Lord and Savior.
When we commit to this kingdom lifestyle, our priorities shift to align with God’s desires, allowing us to live differently in a world that is corrupt and defiled. This transformation is not simply temporary—it prepares us for the life we will ultimately live in eternity.
A pastor friend once shared a story from his life before salvation. As a driver for a private company, he was assigned to pick up the daughter of a local king. He and his assistant greeted her politely, loaded her luggage, and drove as usual, with music playing in the background. However, once she settled in, she firmly requested that they turn off the music. At that moment, the mood changed. The princess was not being rude; rather, she was preserving her standard, refusing to listen to secular music in order to maintain her integrity. She remained steadfast in her upbringing and would not compromise her values.
Now, as a follower of Christ, my friend understands kingdom principles. Just as the princess upheld her royal standards, believers in Christ must boldly uphold the principles of God’s kingdom. We are called to live by God’s standards, refusing to compromise for the sake of worldly influence.

As Scripture reminds us:
“Yes, it is because we are a part of Christ Jesus that God raised us from death and seated us together with him in the heavenly places.”— Ephesians 2:6

Do not allow the temptations of this world to degrade your spiritual position. Keep seeking and applying the kingdom lifestyle, standing firm against the enemy.

Beloved, you may not be a child of an earthly king, but God has called you into something far greater:
“But you are God’s chosen people, the King’s priests, a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into His wonderful light.”— 1 Peter 2:9

Hallelujah!

Make seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness your highest priority. It is possible to live out His kingdom values as the Holy Spirit guides you. As Paul wrote:
“So I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God. He is the one who loved me and gave himself to save me.”— Galatians 2:20

When God is your priority, your motives are purified, and your desires align with His truth (John 15:3). He is faithful, aware of all your needs, and His promises remain steadfast. Jesus reassures us:
“So don’t worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its worries.”
— Matthew 6:34

Let us focus on kingdom business, trusting that God will provide as we serve those who have yet to experience His love.
We are called into deep fellowship with God through Christ and the Holy Spirit. So, continue to seek His kingdom and righteousness, remaining steadfast in prayer, fasting, and meditating on His Word (Psalm 19:7-11). Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, and keep faith in God through every circumstance (Hebrews 11:6). Trusting Him is the key to maintaining our kingdom relationship—for He is a Covenant Keeper!
