Today’s Verse

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
— 1 John 1:7 (NIV)

Devotion with Dr. D. Roy Bramwell

The Christian life is a journey, one illuminated by the presence of God. To walk in the light is to align our lives with His truth, rather than to stumble in the shadows of sin and separation. This does not mean a life of absolute perfection, for none can claim to be without sin. Instead, it speaks of a heart devoted to God, led by the Spirit, and molded by His will.
God Himself is light, as we are reminded in 1 John 1:5—there is no darkness in Him. As we follow His radiant path, we are drawn into profound fellowship not only with Him but also with fellow believers. True communion arises when our hearts are attuned to God’s purposes, fostering unity in His love. Though challenges may arise, the shared commitment to His light strengthens the bond among His people.
Yet, even as we walk in the light, we are ever in need of the cleansing power of Christ’s blood. Sin may still enter our lives, but God’s mercy remains steadfast. As 1 John 1:9 assures us, when we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive and to purify us from all unrighteousness. This purification is not a one-time act, but a continuous renewal, ensuring that we truly live as children of the light (1 Thessalonians 5:5).
Let us rejoice in the grace of God, in the fellowship of the saints, and in the unceasing mercy that calls us ever deeper into His marvelous light.
