GL365 Radio Pointing Souls To Christ
This year, Berea Seventh-Day Christian Church joyously commemorated its 60th anniversary with a series of heartfelt celebrations that brought together members of the congregation and distinguished guests. The festivities kicked off with a powerful Sabbath Service held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the church grounds. The service featured an inspiring message from Guest Speaker Pastor Lesford Foreman, the President of the Seventh-Day Christian Conference in New York.
A few standout moments during the service included the performance by the Berea Combined Choir, skillfully led by Dr. D. Roy, which filled the church with soul-stirring music, and Praise Dancer Aliana Walters, who ministered to the great gospel hit “Never Would Have Made It” by Pastor Marvin Sapp.
The church’s history was presented by 92-year-old stalwart Deaconess Carmen Matthew, who was there at the birth of this ministry 60 years ago.
Among those in attendance was the Mayor of Kingston, His Worship Mr. Andrew Swaby, who took the time to address the congregation. His remarks highlighted the significant impact that Berea Seventh-Day Christian Church has made over the years, affirming its vital role in the community.
The celebrations continued on Sunday, November 24, 2024, with an elegant banquet at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. During this gathering, the church honored both past and present leaders who have contributed to its rich 60-year history.
The church was founded in 1964 by Vernal Theodore Faulknor and has been guided by several dedicated pastors, including Pastor Israel A. Darby, Pastor Hugh H. Johnson, Pastor Clive M. Lindo, Pastor Deforest B. Soaries, Pastor Alphanso A. Holding, Pastor Levi A. Rodney, and the current pastor, Minister Janet P. Bramwell. The banquet was expertly hosted by Radio Host Dr. D. Bramwell from GL365 Radio, based in Houston, Texas, along with Minister Suzette Faulknor, Pastor of New Hope Seventh-Day Christian Church in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Their engaging presence contributed to the warmth and celebratory spirit of the event, as attendees embraced the legacy of faith that Berea Seventh-Day Christian Church continues to foster in the community.
As the congregation looks to the future, the celebration of 60 years stands as a testament to the faith, dedication, and enduring spirit of Berea Seventh-Day Christian Church and its commitment to serving God and the community.
