Delivered From People Pleasing

By Dr. D. Roy Bramwell

Acts 26:17 says: “I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them.”

In this scripture, God is speaking to Paul, assuring him of His protection and mission. While this verse specifically addresses Paul’s calling to spread the Gospel to both Jews and Gentiles, it can also provide guidance for overcoming the need to please people.

Key Takeaways:

1. Rescued from the Pressure to Conform: God promises to rescue Paul from the pressures and expectations of his own people and others. This can be seen as an encouragement for us to rely on God’s guidance rather than seeking approval from those around us.

2. Sent on a Mission: Just as Paul was sent with a purpose, we are called to fulfill God’s mission in our lives. Focusing on this divine purpose can help us prioritize God’s approval over people’s opinions.

3. Trust in God’s Protection: Knowing that God is with us and will protect us can give us the confidence to step away from people-pleasing tendencies and boldly pursue the path He has set for us.

By understanding and applying the lessons from Acts 26:17, we can find strength in God’s promise and be delivered from the need to please people, focusing instead on fulfilling His mission for our lives.
